Dispatches from the raid frontier.

A London gaming blog built for people who read patch notes for fun — raid strategy, indie deep-dives, hardware teardowns and the culture around them.

A note from the founder

We started this in a Hoxton flat with three monitors and a spreadsheet.

I kept a private doc of raid timings and boss mechanics for my clan. When friends outside the guild started asking for it, ShadowRaid Frontier became a blog. Six years on, we still write the way we did then — clearly, with receipts, and without pretending every launch is the best game ever made.

We publish two long-reads a week from our desk on Hoxton Street, plus a Friday roundup. No sponsored scores, no review embargoes we can't disclose. Just careful play, honest notes, and a stubborn love of the endgame grind.

Raid Strategy Guides

Phase-by-phase breakdowns, tank swaps and DPS checks for current-tier raids across major MMOs.

Includes downloadable timers, callout sheets and a video log for each first clear. Updated within 48 hours of a patch.

Indie game key art

Indie Deep-Dives

Long reviews of small-studio releases we actually finished, with dev interviews where we can get them.

We hold indie scores until credits roll — no impressions dressed up as verdicts. Two features published every month.

Gaming hardware components close-up

Hardware Teardowns

Handhelds, keyboards and GPUs benchmarked on real games, not synthetic loops, from our Hoxton bench.

Thermal photos, frame-time graphs and a plain-English buy/skip call. We keep review units on record.

Frequently asked

How often do you publish?+

We post two long-form features every week, usually Tuesday and Thursday, plus a shorter roundup every Friday. Breaking patch coverage goes up within 48 hours. Members get day-one access; free readers see guides after 30 days.

Do sponsors influence your scores?+

No. We never sell review scores or accept payment for coverage. If a studio provides a review key or hardware unit, we say so clearly at the top of the piece and keep it on record. Membership fees, not advertisers, keep the lights on.

Can I pitch a guest article?+

Yes — we run one or two guest pieces a month, and we pay for them. Send a two-paragraph pitch and a writing sample to our contact address. We especially want raid logs, accessibility deep-dives and UK scene reporting.

What does a membership include?+

Frontier at £5/month unlocks day-one guides, ad-free reading and the members' Discord. Raid Lead at £12/month adds monthly strategy calls and a printed zine posted to you. You can cancel any time and keep access until the period ends.

Do you cover consoles as well as PC?+

We do. Most raid content skews toward PC MMOs, but our indie and hardware beats cover console and handheld regularly. If a game only exists on one platform, we test it there and note any performance differences we find.
